I think I am most excited about getting the drive over with, settling in, and seeing the area. As far as apprehensions, I missed my youngest daughter’s birthday, but we were able to celebrate it Saturday. So, I was just hoping we made it here safe. There seems to be a lot of fast food available in the area. Diabetes is also a problem in the area, so that could play a major factor. It is also a rural area, so it may make getting adequate health care difficult for some. I do not view Natives any different from any other population who has a different cultural background then my own; I don’t see them as any worse or better than anyone else. When I care for them, I will ask questions in order to provide culturally competent care. I do not think I have any type of negative thoughts or biases about the culture in this area. I have seen some information about the area, but besides walking around it for the day I have had no experience with it.
